How It All Began

Founded in 2000, Thai Cottage Home Cookery School started as a simple dream: to share the authentic flavors of Thai home cooking with visitors from around the world. What began as a small family kitchen has grown into one of Chiang Mai's most beloved cooking schools, welcoming thousands of students each year from over 50 countries.

A Truly Authentic Experience

Unlike large commercial cooking schools, we maintain the intimate, family-run atmosphere that has defined us since day one. Set in a tranquil, garden-like setting, our school welcomes small groups for a warm and personalized experience that feels like visiting a Thai family's home.

The Market Tour

Every class begins with a guided visit to a local market — not a tourist market, but a real Thai market where locals shop every day. Our instructors introduce you to exotic ingredients, explain their uses in Thai cuisine, and share stories about food culture that you won't find in any guidebook.

Our Organic Herb Garden

After the market tour, guests explore our organic herb garden, where we grow lemongrass, galangal, Thai basil, kaffir lime, chili peppers, and many more ingredients used in our recipes. Picking fresh herbs from the garden and using them minutes later in your cooking is an experience that connects you deeply with Thai culinary traditions.

Hands-On Cooking

In our open-air kitchen, every student gets their own wok and cooking station. Our friendly, fluent English-speaking instructors guide you step by step through each dish. From grinding curry paste by hand to mastering the art of wok tossing, you'll learn techniques that you can recreate at home.
